Bible Talks from Acts 19.1-7: Two Roles of the Holy Spirit for us Misfit Christians
The Bible talks quite a bit about the Holy Spirit, and in today's text, we see an example of it. Now, we could get bogged down in the speaking in tongues or evidences of the Holy Spirit within the believer, but I am choosing to go a different direction. I am suggesting two roles that the Holy Spirit plays in our lives and for which I am very thankful. Grab that cup of coffee, have a seat at my table, and let's chat on this Table Talks episode of Coffee with Keith.

Bible Talks from Matthew 25:14-30: The story about the Talents and how it might apply to US
On today's Bible Talks episode, I turn our attention to the story Jesus told about the master giving talents to his slaves. It some ways, this story always made me a little sad for the dude with the one talent. But, reminding myself that this is a parable and it's about the bigger picture, I want to share with you what I think that greater message is. And even more importantly, I want to suggest how it might apply to you and me. So, grab that cup of coffee, have a seat at my table, and let's chat on this episode of Coffee with Keith. Bible Talks: Let’s talk about End Times
In today's Bible Talks episode of the Coffee with Keith podcast, we are turning our attention to Matthews 25:1-13. Now, the theme of this text, as well as all of the Lectionary text for this week, seems to be about the end times, or the "second coming of Christ." And, just to be honest...this is my least favorite topic to speak on or speak about. Why? Because I have so much uncertainty about it. People throw out terms like pre-tribulation, post-tribulation, pre-millennial, post-millennial, a-millennial. And of course, let's not forget the massive discussions on the "Rapture." Well, I will admit that even after the ton of research I have done…

Bible Talks from Philippians 4.4-7: Don’t Worry???!!!
In today's Bible Talks episode of the Coffee with Keith podcast, we turned out attention to a section of the longer reading for this coming Sunday. The reading is Philippians 4:1-9 but verses 4-7 just hit me hard this week so I wanted to talk about those. Specifically, I wanted to talk about the instruction to not worry, or as some texts record, don't be anxious for anything. What? Have you met me? Today, I get a little real on this. I have struggled with worry in my life so I know I needed to hear this one. I hope it might encourage you to. If nothing else, maybe you…

Table Talks with Midge Noble: Author of the new book, “Gay with God.”
Look who's back. My wonderful guest today is Midge Noble, coach and brand new author. Midge appeared on episode 95 if you want to go back and listen to that. But today, I can't wait for for you to hear all about her new book, "Gay with God." By the way, listen for her laugh. It will make you day. Formally, Midge says she is a professional hummingbird, in that she flits from place to place as she is called to do in order to serve wherever she lands. Midge has worked as a school counselor, mental health therapist, and in private practice. She has a BA in Theology,…

Bible Talks: “I believe in God, the Father Almighty…”
On today's Bible Talks episode of the Coffee with Keith podcast, we are going to do something a little different. As I explain in the podcast, I was asked to speak this coming Sunday at a church; however, instead to preaching a text as I normally wood, they asked me to speak on the first line of the Apostle's Creed. So, as I gather all my thoughts on this, I though... What better place to get some of this out than on my podcast? So, that's what this is about. I am going to talk about this expression, concentrating on "GOD" and "Father." I hope you will hear the heart…

Bible Talks from Matthew 20.1-16: Can we talk about Jealousy?
On today's Bible Talk episode, we see Jesus teaching as he often did...through story. This story is about the land owner who hired workers at different times of the day and when it came time to pay them...well, he paid them all the same. As you can imagine, and perhaps would feel personally, the ones who got hired in the morning weren't happy. So, why this story? And more importantly, what might we take from it? On today's coffee chat, I share a few of my thoughts on it.

Bible Talks: Why does God protect some and not others?
On today's Bible Talks episode of the Coffee with Keith podcast, we tackle the difficult idea of how God seems to intervene in the lives and well-being of some and others, he seems to not do so. I believe this is a reasonable question and one we could certainly ask as we read Acts 12 which is our Scripture today. Let me also add, that I kind of stepped back to grab this text. I somehow skipped it in our progress, having already down chapter 13 but felt it was worth going back and looking at. In chapter 12, we see that Herod has put James to death by the…

Bible Talks: Where is Jesus when I need him?
In this episode of Coffee with Keith, I wanted to take a step away from our walk through Acts and instead, look at the Easter account from John 20:1-18. In it, we see Mary Magdalene come to the grave of Jesus only to find the stone rolled away. This account shows us the great love, faith, and pain that this special woman has for her teacher, Jesus Christ. Her loss and pain somehow reminds me of my own. Perhaps you are feeling that as well. But as we know, that tomb isn't the end of this story. I love the interaction that the risen Jesus has with Mary as…
